The Second Dog Gets to Stare at the Butt of the First Dog...

Oh the things you learn in school....

Today in my Managerial Strategy class we were talking about comparative advantage, which is a relatively easy subject to grasp. However, my teacher (bless his heart) loves explaining everything as visual images. For instance...when talking about "greater the risk, greater the return," he compared stock to every fruit imaginable. If you invest in an apple...you get an apple. But sometimes you can invest in an apple and get an orange! WTF?? lol. Anyways...today while talking about comparative advantage, he used a visual that clicked in my head. Companies like to get unsustainable comparative advantages so they can be like the lead dog of a dog sled team; they see the world and every possibility. Whereas, companies without comparative advantages are like the dogs behind the lead dog...all they see is the butt of the lead dog; they're so busy trying to keep up with the lead dog, they don't see anything else.

Isn't this a great thought?? It immediately make me think of 2 things:

1. We should be the lead dog of our own dreams and life...we shouldn't worry about the dogs (more fitting of a name to some than others...ha ha) behind us. We shouldn't let things behind us (our past) get in the way of our future...even though those things are tied to us.

2. We should be the hind dogs in our ultimate race. God should be the lead dog, and we should be running so fast to keep up with him and follow him in order to get to Heaven, that no other worldly things distract us. We should be tied to him, in everything we do.

And they say you don't learn anything in school....

I hope you become the lead dog of your dreams, and can still manage to be the hind dog in the ultimate race.

This is my goal.

Feelin Crafty

Over the past year I have become increasingly craftier than before. For instance...I have started making jewelry (which although I am good at making, I rarely wear b/c I am a diamond kinda girl). Also I started making baby bows. Why? I have no idea really...lol. I have no baby to make bows for and it will be a long time before I have children. I think it's the fact that I'm in love with the idea of little babies in HUGE bows. ha ha. There's a little girl at our church who you can spot by the large bow on her head. Find the bow, and you will find the little girl beneath it. lol. So...I've made a ton of those flowers that clip on headbands and last night I started making ribbon bows! They're so cute!! I'm in love. Now my sister in law needs to hurry up and have a little girl so I can put these unproportionately large bows on the poor child. lol. Which brings me to the subject of pageants...

Most people hate on child pageants (including my mother) but I think they could actually be beneficial for the child, not to mention fun! Which is why my sister in law and I will be putting said child in pageants and hopefully my children someday. lol. Even though my mother and brother are dead set against them...oh well. ha ha. You win some, you lose some...

Just keep smiling...

Is it me or does this week seem like it's never going to end?? And it's only Tuesday....

Since I've been fairly anti-social lately, I've had plenty of time to think about the stuff that makes me happy. Some of these things include:

my family

fmylife.com (makes me feel better about my life)

textfromlastnight.com (just plain retarded lol)

Gone With the Wind (I watched it over the weekend and was reminded of it's greatness...definitely in the Top 10 movies ever made...although it could be a little shorter)

the thought of graduating...someday...lol

my friends

Secret Life (don't ask me why I like this show cause I have no idea why lol...I feel kinda lame)

The Buried Life (watched it for the first time last night and LOVED it! It reminded me of my bucket list which I'm slowly working on. How great would it be to travel the world accomplishing your dreams while helping others do the same??)

Hockey (this is a true sport...they keep their balance while skating which is hard enough in itself WHILE people are checking them against the glass and trying to kill them...all while they attempt to get the puck in the goal)

random texts from people I love :)

Teen Mom (it's amusing to see how different girls are better moms than others)

shoes (I LOVE shoes)

when guys are sweet (cause you NEVER see it anymore...)

when I get letters in the mail (everyone facebooks or texts now, so when I get a letter it just makes me feel special)

candy (I love candy!)

God (when everything in my life is going wrong I just have to laugh at God's sense of humor. I feel like he's showing me to let him make my plans for me.)

blogs (I love reading other people's blogs although it makes me feel like mine is even lamer) lol

music (a good song can make my day)

teaching piano (I love watching Allison learn--it's so cute and makes me feel like I'm making a difference)

a perfect weather day (we rarely have "perfect weather" days in Oklahoma, however yesterday was very close...)

and that's all I can think of for now even though there are thousands of other things lol

I could make a list of things I don't like but I don't like dwelling on bad things so I'm going to refrain ;).

As I wrap this up, I'd like to remind everyone to be thankful for what they have and to appreciate the small things! All too often we fail to recognize the things that make us happy because we are too busy focusing on the unhappy aspects of life.
