Life Lessons From Class, Edition 3

A conversation went on in class today that was HILARIOUS, I just had to share:

Teacher:  "When people put their marriages at the center of their lives, they are dooming them to fail.  After your first divorce, you will realize that your life isn't over, and you will move on.  The truth is, we set our little girls up for heartache by telling them that love is a fairytale and that their Prince Charming will come sweep them off of their feet.  However, in reality--none of us men are Prince Charmings, we will sweep you off of your feet by lying to you and telling you what you want to hear."

Kristina (fellow student):  "Can you make this sound a little more encouraging? I'm starting to get sad."
*With the saddest, Bambi just saw his mom get shot, look ever!

Teacher: *Shouting "NO!! It's not encouraging! Nothing about reality is encouraging! Love isn't perfect and marriage is hard!  Women put up a front that they're perfect and always beautiful with perfect hair and a perfectly makeup-ed face.  Truth is, when you wake up next to them they're not so pretty!  So you do what any normal person would do..."

Me:  "Divorce them?"

Teacher: *Laughing his butt off "Well hopefully you figure that out BEFORE you get married to them and you run, fast."

Kristina:  "I think couples should have to go camping for 3 days before they get married."

Shelby (fellow student): "No, because I would definitely break up with her then!"

Point and case.  Love sucks.

BTW, Kristina is still heartbroken that her bubble was burst and is set to get married in the Spring.

Oh how I love honest, straight-forward teachers.

Art Work

Here are a few of my sketches--by NO means do I think I'm good, or even talented for that matter. ha ha
Oh, and don't judge the quality of my photos--photobooth put glares on them and messed up the shading :(

Here is a shadow sketch I did (I didn't quite finish it, but you get the gist):

Here is an ink shadow sketch I did (I don't like the way the boot turned out):

Here is my latest sketch for class--it's a landscape of a creek and trees, but I don't like the way the "water" looks:

BTW, it's really weird to see my sketches backwards. lol

I'm not super proud of these and I'm NOWHERE near being good, but anything is an improvement from my stick figures and raindrop people! ha ha

New Layout

I figured out how to add countdown timers to my blog, so you can now find my two major countdowns over here ----------->

Also, I changed the layout--I'm not sure what I think about it.  Let me know if you like it or not!

On another note, I found out today that I will be graduating Cum Laude, which is super exciting!
That is, if this dang art class isn't the death of me! lol jk.
(Either way, I'll walk Cum Laude!!)

I'm just not very artistic...
Don't get me wrong, I can play piano; scrapbook; and make jewelry, but as far as drawing goes...I'm too much of a perfectionist.
I nit-pick everything, so in order to simplify life I just stick to raindrop people :) ha ha

Seriously though, I do feel like my drawing skills have improved a lot (although when starting at HORRIBLE, the only way to go is up ha ha).  I'll try to post some pictures of my works soon!

Have a great Humpday!

P.S. Sorry I missed my Lustday post, I was super busy

P.S.S. I doubt I will have a Life Lessons post tomorrow because we're taking a test, which means no lecture :(

P.S.S.S. (Is there such a thing as P.S.S.S? ha ha).  Nevertheless, I want to wish a belated happy birthday to my beautiful niece, Shanna.  I surprised her Monday with pizza for her and her friends.  She's now a gorgeous, rotten, hilarious, highly intelligent FOURTEEN year old! Man, time sure does fly...

Walking Down the Aisle...To Get My Diploma

I ordered my cap and gown!
I decided I would probably regret not walking so as of right now, I'm planning to walk.

So...in 74 days I will be walking down the aisle to get my diploma, definitely not a husband! ha ha

Is It Possible To Have TOO Many Clothes?

I cleaned out my room today and was reminded of just how many clothes I have...
I usually clean my closet out every couple of months and get rid of clothes I never wear.

While cleaning out my room today, I found:
16 pairs of jeans
12 pairs of capris
11 pairs of sweat pants
and 14 pairs of shorts

I didn't even attempt to count all my t-shirts or dresses...lol

My stack of clothes to get rid of is a mountain...my sister-in-law and nieces will think it's Christmas! ha ha

Life Lessons From Class, Edition 2

Tonight's class was pretty short, so I didn't get much valuable advice.  I will, however, share with you the two that he did say:

1.  If you commit a crime with another woman, you might as well divorce your current wife and marry the fellow partner in crime that way she can't be forced to testify against you in court.
Hmm...that one seems a little a little odd to me? lol

2.  After giving us the study guide for our test, he promptly instructed the guys to find a good looking girl to cheat off of.  He continued on to say that women always do the work, and the men get the glory.
Sounds true enough, doesn't it? lol

Today is HumpDay! Yay!
My week is almost over :)

Monday Lustday Series, Edition 5

I only have one item that I want today, but it has a hefty price tag!

I want $4918-$6737.

Why?

I want to travel the world, and this would pay for my plane tickets.

I found these really cool "world traveler" tickets through airtreks, and they set up an itinerary for me based on where I want to go.

My itinerary is:

Dallas; Los Angeles; Rarotonga; Aucklandt; Sydney; Bangkok; Calcutta; Bombay; Addis Ababa; Cairo; Athens; Rome; Milan; London; Berlin; Paris; Prague; Stockholm; New York; Quito; San Jose; Los Angeles; Dallas

If you would like to donate to this fund, I would be eternally grateful!

Also, go vote on my poll cause I have to order my cap and gown by next month if I'm going to walk!

Change of Pace

When times change, I change with them...over the weekend, I dyed my hair (for real this time--it's permanent)!

Before:

After:

Maybe people will take me more seriously now! lol.  So far, only one person (other than family) has noticed, and to my surprise it was a man!

On another note, last week I rented "Letters to Juliet."  I fell in love with the movie--it's great! For real though, if you haven't seen it, go rent it!  It's on my list of things to buy now!

While watching the movie, I was faced with a thought--does love like that exist?  Love that makes you trust without skepticism; love that makes your heart skip a beat; love that can cross oceans and withstand thousands of miles; love that you would kill for.

I have no doubt that this kind of love used to exist--my papaw and grandma had a love like this.  But times have changed--chivalry is dead, love is now skeptical and selfish.  I hate that this is what the world has come to.  Instead of thinking the love will last forever, we anticipate when it will come to an end; it's a ticking time bomb.

I want a love like Juliet's--like Claire's--like Sophie's--like my papaw and grandma's...

Funniest Job Ad Ever!

For Some Reason I Keep Hiring Idiots (Oklahoma City)

Can you make it to work on time?
Spell the word "document" properly?
Answer a phone before it goes to the answering machine because my entire faculty has decided to take a simultaneous lunch break?

These are all things that my idiot staff just can't seem to wrap their heads around. So I am re-hiring for my entire office.

I will pay a generous $15 an hour as well as full benefits after a 90-day evaluation period to people that know how and are willing to do their jobs.

Life Lessons From Class, Edition 1

One of my teachers is off the wall--some of the things he says are so offensive, but he always proves to be funny.  Every class period I leave with some odd life lessons, so I've decided to start sharing them.  Be expecting them on Wednesday nights or Thursdays (depending upon if he says anything of greatness and if I remember to post).

NOTE:  These lessons do not necessarily reflect my views and/or beliefs--they are straight from my teacher's mouth, and have not been edited to reflect my opinions.

Hope you enjoy them!

1.  Arbitrations are not a good idea--they leave you owing $35,000 to suited men with alligator boots, in Chicago
2.  Don't rob a bank.  If you want to rob something, rob a convenience store because you can still get away with large amounts of money, without committing a federal offense.
3.  Pack heat at all times.  Every Oklahoman should possess a concealed weapon license and "pack heat" at all times.  You have a right to defend yourself and your property.  If someone comes to your door yelling at you for messing around with his girlfriend, "pop a cap in his ass."  And make sure to buy your gun NOW, before Obama takes them all away.  You especially need your gun if you frequent Club Rodeo.
4.  Americans have a right to burn the Qur'an on September 11th, just like Middle Easterners have a right to burn our flag.
5.  Party while you're young and live it up.
6.  Your future wife has family members who she will "forget to mention" until after you marry her.  These family members will make you question your marriage...and your wife.
7.  The best way to steal money is through embezzlement.  Sometimes you can get away with stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars without charges being pressed.
8.  If you're a preacher and steal money from the church, make sure you don't take that money to a strip club--you will caught.

and my personal favorite...

9.  If you can prove that your ex boyfriend caused emotional damage to you, sue him! But be prepared to  look at a lot of ink blots and talk to a lot of psychologists.

Just a reminder: I definitely do not agree with all of these statements, in fact, I have argued with him about many of them.

To Walk or Not to Walk...

Now that I've got my Graduation crap figured out and added a two hour tutorial, I get to Graduate in December!! Yay!

But now I'm faced with a decision...should I even walk at Graduation?

If you know me, you know I make lists, so here's my yes/no list...

Yes side:
I've worked my butt off
I actually finished a semester early--accomplishment (yay me)
You only graduate from college once (unless of course you keep going back for more degrees, like those 60 year old women in my classes)
I don't have good graduation pictures from my HS graduation, so this would be a cute photo-op

No side:
I feel no devotion to USAO--my heart remains at OC (I definitely would have walked there)
The cap and gown costs money that I could save, if I didn't walk
I don't have close friends who are graduating with me
I don't have a big family, therefore, the whole "family has to see you graduate" thing is insignificant to me.  After all, I will still get my diploma--that's the important thing
I really just don't want to sit through it...

So, you guys (my loyal readers) get to help me decide! Go vote on my poll, located on the right side of this page.

Brief bragging moment: I already completed one of my final papers that isn't due until December :)

Oh, here's a picture of me and my puppy...isn't she cute??

Are You For Real??

In case you haven't seen, TLC is launching a new show focusing on a Mormon, polygamist family living in Utah.

I'm not normally one to hate on other religions (you can worship however you desire--I would hope you would share by beliefs, but that's your choice), so I'm not complaining about Mormons.  In fact, I know many Mormons who aren't polygamists.  However, I am hating on TLC highlighting an illegal action.

On the commercial, TLC encourages viewers to "rethink the idea of marriage."  I'm sorry, but marriage was designed to be for ONE man and ONE woman.  Why should we change our views now, especially when polygamy is a sin AND illegal?

Did you know that there are at least 40,000 people living in illegal, polygamist homes in Utah?

I mean, for real, I see dysfunctional relationships every day where the boyfriend/husband cheats on his girlfriend/wife and vise versa.  WHY would anyone knowingly allow their significant other to do this??
I would kick him to the curb!

Marriage is supposed to be about love, devotion, and trust.
Polygamy seems to be about lust...

I just don't understand TLC sometimes--I love some of their shows (Say Yes To The Dress, John & Kate Plus 8, Cake Boss, 19 Kids and Counting, and What Not To Wear), but others just seem to be off the wall (like Sister Wives, BBQ Pitmasters, Extreme Poodles, and One Big Happy Family).

Once again, I ask myself, what is this world coming to?
Maybe all this rain is a precursor of an upcoming flood--better start building my ark (ha ha jk, but seriously).

Cause I Had a Bad Day...

WARNING: This will be a very negative, whiny post.  If you don't want to read it, I don't blame you. Nevertheless, I need to rant.

1. I applied for graduation in June.  Today, I got a letter saying I was TWO hours short of graduating and was being removed from the graduation list.  WTF?? Don't get me wrong, I , in no way, believe I am above rules--if I need two more hours that's fine.  The fact of the matter is that they should have caught this error back in June! If they had realized it back then, I could have taken a summer independent study course.  But no, they wait until after Fall semester has started to tell me that I am missing two hours.  Which means, it's too late to enroll in a normal course at USAO because I will have missed too much by now.
So, I have three possible solutions:
A. Go argue with them--because I counted my upper division courses and TECHNICALLY I do, in fact, have 42!
B. Beg one of my teachers to teach an independent study/tutorial class for me.
C. Take a 5 week course at SWCU.  (My 7th college)

One way or another, it will work out.  I'm just stressed and it's not necessary--it should have been fixed before it became a problem.

2.  Guys annoy me. Greatly.  What's new though? ha ha
I mean, I love having guy friends and I love hanging out with them, I just don't see the point in dating.  Honestly? I'm attracted to the bad boys--the ones who treat me like crap.  Don't ask me why, it's not a conscious decision, it just happens.  I'm usually not attracted to the nice ones (which are few and far between--most are gay or taken).  Don't misunderstand what I'm saying, I definitely don't base relationships on attraction, but I know you have to be attracted to the other person in order for it to work.  You need chemistry.  So, I will just choose to stay single.

Oh, and what's with guys blowing you off and ignoring you one minute then they call you up and ask you questions on homework assignments THEN ask you out??

Well, I got my revenge on him--I acted like I didn't have his number and had no earthly idea who he was . I know how to play these games and I can win! ;)

Anyways, that's my rant for now.

On the bright side, today is Humpday AND I bought my Barons' Opening Night tickets--thanks Cam for being a great friend and agreeing to go with me :)

Monday Lustday Series, Edition 3

Item Number 1:
Seeing as it's Labor Day weekend, I've been watching a LOT of television.
On the list of shows/movies to watch was "Hairspray," which casts Brittany Snow (whom I love and used to watch on "American Dreams").  I had forgotten about this show until I saw her and it made me miss it :(

Item Number 2:
I want my ALL-TIME FAVORITE show ever on DVD--the complete, matching set.

Item Number 3:
While watching "Hairspray," which also casts Amanda Bynes, I remembered her glory days of "What I Like About You," and this beautiful, hunk of a man (who used to be her boyfriend on the show).
Nick Zano is also guest starring as Adrian's OBGYN on "Secret Life of the American Teenager" (don't ask me why I watch that show--I'm just addicted to it--no excuses).
I would LOVE for him to be my doctor--pretend or not :)

We Will Never Forget

Lately, there have been several 9/11 documentaries on television, and being the nerd that I am, I have watched most of them.

As I look back on the day, when our whole world stopped and we stood in terror, I remember exactly what I was doing.  I remember the fear and the pain that I felt, like it was yesterday.

While watching the documentaries, four big thoughts stayed in my mind...

1.  The men aboard Flight 93 are true heroes and make me proud to be an American.  They sacrificed their lives in order to save other people; while knowing that no matter what happened, they would never get to see their wives and/or children again.  They were successful in their mission of saving hundreds of people, by crashing the plane into an empty field. I only hope, they went down knowing they would forever be considered heroes.

2.  Two of the worst positions to have been in on that day were to be
a) above where the planes hit on the Twin Towers--to be able to look out your office window and know there was no way out, that you would eventually die, had to be terrifying.
b) the wives of the heroes on Flight 93--I know at least two of them received phone calls from their husbands telling them they loved them and that they were about to fight the terrorists.  To know that your husband is about to be killed, and that you can't do anything to help him, would have to be heartbreaking.

3.  The large number of firefighters/rescue workers who died that day in the process of saving others.  Obviously, they are heroes.

4.  How surreal the whole thing was--4 terrorist attacks happened in the span of two hours.  The attacks were planned down to the second, intended to kill thousands of people and leave America in turmoil.

It breaks my heart to see how destructive and hurtful human beings can be.
It also terrifies me to know that there are terrorists living among us, planning their next attack...

May the victims and heroes of September 11 forever be remembered and may they rest in peace.

WE WILL NEVER FORGET

The Blonde Can Cook!

If you know me at all, you know that I don't cook.
Not that I CAN'T cook, in fact, I'm actually a really good cook...I just HATE it.

Aside from cereal, homemade sugar cookies, homemade noodles, grilled cheese, and pancakes, I rarely cook. lol

However, for some strange reason, I just got the urge to cook (maybe it's the change in weather or something lol).  So I made:

Grilled pork chops with Canadian seasoning (my favorite seasoning) and green beans

and for dessert:

a double layer, raspberry-filled cake

Not too shabby, if I do say so myself...

Here's to the End of my LAST First Week...

Is it sad that I've been in school for a week now and the only homework I've had was to draw a still life picture?

Absolutely not!
Oh how I love being a last semester Senior :)

Don't get me wrong, I have a tough semester ahead (including 17 hours PLUS Sr. Sem.) but I'm not worried--I've figured out that I wing-it pretty dang well!

Before the end of the semester I have to:
1. Complete a ton of sketches and get them critiqued
2.  Complete a dozen case studies
3.  Write two large papers and give presentations
4. Write one 20 page paper and give an oral presentation
5.  Take a dozen tests
and
6. Take time to enjoy my LAST semester as an under-grad :)

I was worried that my hardest class would be Drawing 1, but I actually love it!

As for my other classes...
I skip the readings and just show up for class,
BS my assignments,
and wing-it on the tests...
who needs textbooks??

BTW, I have a few leads on big-girl jobs--I already have 3 interviews set up for December :)

Things are falling into place and life is good!

What Is This World Coming To?

I just saw on the news that they were trying to make it illegal for panhandlers to stand on the side of the road with their signs.

They interviewed people, saying "they inconvenience me."  Well guess which people they interviewed?? Upper class, snobby rich people, wearing pearls! Who would have thought that rich people would be "inconvenienced" by seeing a poor person....

I don't understand why they're trying to make this illegal.  Don't get me wrong, I don't approve of people living off the government, but some people are sometimes just genuinely down on their luck and need help from their fellow Americans.

I'd much rather see panhandlers on the road (and help them), than see those commercials for mistreated animals, or relief efforts in Haiti.

We need to fix the problems in America, before we can fix the problems in the world.

Ugh, I'm annoyed.
