You Get What You Pay For

Over the years,
I have discovered products that you can buy a cheaper version of,
and some that you just HAVE to pay the expensive tab for;
after all, you get what you pay for.

Some of the products that you can't skimp on include:

Hair straighteners
As much as I'd like the little $30 straighteners at Walmart to work well,
the truth is...they suck.
Personally, I find Chi straighteners to be the best.

Toilet Paper
Let's be real, the cheap brands have NOTHING on Charmin.

Mascara
Because I have blonde eyelashes, mascara is a beauty staple for me.
I have tried every kind under the sun and have found
that the cheap kinds just don't compete.
They may work for some people...but I like all-in-one mascaras
that give me long, curled, and full eyelashes...
so far, none of the cheap mascaras have been able to do that for me.
Because I'm so picky, unfortunately, I usually fork out around $30/tube.

Graham Crackers
I didn't discover this until last week,
but the cheap brands just don't taste as good.
In fact, they taste AWFUL.
I'll pay a dollar more and buy a product that's edible.

What items do you break the bank for?

Until next time,

  2. I splurge on makeup....like foundation and concealer because I've got sensitive skin and I don't like to play around with messing up my face. I did that one time and I'll never do it again. I grew up using Clinique and that worked perfectly but over the summer I just got tired of the same thing and decided to try something new. I went to Sephora and ended up getting a brand called Cover FX. I'd never heard of it before but it is seriously my new favorite line. It's not cheap but it's so worth it!

As far as mascara, I'm with you on it not showing up very well. I use 3 mascaras to give me the look I want and I love them all!! Covergirl and Maybelline. Works perfectly! :)

  3. Man... As far as mascara is concerned, I use e.l.f.'s $3 primer and their $1 mascara. It's better than anything else I've ever tried, and I, too, am a VERY picky person when it comes to mascara.
The one thing that I break the bank for is jeans. These long legs gotta have some good jeans, and most of the time, I'm willing to shell out about $80 for a pair. It doesn't help that a lot of times that's my only option, but hey - what can ya do?

  11. I totally agree with you on the toilet paper :) I never skimp on the food, because it´s really important to know that what I put in my stomach is a good quality!

  12. I definitely pay more for toilet paper so my butt doesn't feel like it just got sandpapered, I also tend to spurge on bras. Cheap bras are for the birds. Great post and adorable blog!

I am a new follower, would love for you to stop by my blog sometime and follow back if you're interested!

  13. My hair is super straight (well not right now because I just got a beach perm), so thankfully I can get by without ever straightening my hair.

Good face wash and lotions are something that I won't scrimp on.

  15. Love this post! It's so true! I seem to splurge on skincare products...and bedding. Nothing is better than a heavenly set of sheets or frilly pillows!

When I would rather skimp, I find that the generic Target brand, Up & Up, is often just as good as a brand name. (The disinfecting wipes are on par with Clorox!)

  16. Hahaha...

I definitely agree with toilet paper & straighteners! I'm a Chi girl all the way!

I also spend a lot of money on bras... Ever since I started wearing VS bras in high school, I swear I could NEVER wear a cheap bra again!! It's just NOT the same... it's a NECESSITY now. lol

  17. I got a chi straightner 1 1/2 years ago and I will NEVER go back! They are the best! I splurge on concealer/foundation. I use Bare Minerals...it's more on the exspensive side but it works so well! Love the post!

  18. I'm cheap when it comes to clothes! Styles change ALL the time! I only pay good money for jeans. I also have to pay out the money for Bare Minerals because it's one of the only foundations that doesn't make my face breakout.
